Dear Toni Morrison,
Words can not describe how much your courage has changed how I view my fear. There have been times when I've been told that I am not good enough, I am not pretty enough, and I'm just not enough. Being told these things over and over again can and has been detrimental in the way I value and see myself. However, when you read about love, sorrow, pain, and joy, you find relatability. You see that you're not alone. You find yourself. You find value in permitting yourself. Permission to love and just be! And that love for self doesn't happen overnight or go away once you start. It is progressive in its acts as time moves and life changes. I have learned through your courage to be courageous. To see my fears for what they are and power through them anyway. I do not inspire to be the best writer, the most talented, or well known. But I do wish to be myself. Authentically and unapologetically. Giving no one permission but myself. Your life has been a beautiful example in that and I thank you. I hope that if I live my life with courage that that energy will be passed down to others as yours has to me.
- Love Ya Mrs. Toni
Well said. As you journey through life, there will be fear and doubt! However there is the guiding light of the Almighty who will direct you far away from fear and doubt. Choosing to be authentically you is freeing. Allow yourself to be free. But remember, not everyone deserves all of you. Value your authenticity and seek out others who can appreciate your vulnerability.
