Big hug, little kiss

 A real love,

I reflect on today in deep admiration of these two individuals right here. My right hand and my other right hand.

Every morning on Valentine's Day our dad would set up the kitchen with balloons, chocolate, and cards for each of us. V-day usually landed on a school day so the excitement about the school events usually started the night before. But the surprise of the goodies our dad left us always came as a highly anticipated event.

We'd share that moment together, admiring each other's gifts and trading the chocolate like YuGiOh cards.

I love them. I love us. The dynamic of a sister AND a brother is the richest blessing. Seven years from my sister and only two from my twin, we share a life that is both 80's and 90's. A life of road trips, track and swim meets, epic sleepovers, and sneaking into Taye's room to play GTA. Rock band tours, intense tennis matches, basketball games, and band concerts. Laughing until we pee'd ourselves, drinking until we could no longer see straight, reminiscing the same event three different ways. A wedding, graduations, and babies-- we've supported, showed up, and often showed out.

We may not have always agreed. (One of us might've gotten choked out more than the others.) We might not have always been physically present. But I can attest to never having a low moment without them. A moment of weakness. A moment of loneliness. I always had my siblings, whether they knew what I was going through or not. I could always call, text, or just show up.

Growing into adulthood with these two has been one of my favorite things about growing older each year. It means there is more to laugh about. More to celebrate. More to support. More to love.

Happy Valentines Day to my first and forever favorite Valentines

"Big hug, little hug, big kiss, little kiss..."
